Ludhiana: Ahead of the state budget, which is likely to be introduced next month, Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisations (
FICO) has sent list of demands to state finance minister
Harpal Singh Cheema.
Gurmeet Singh Kular, president of FICO said, “ Registration of new members, industries for treatment of effluent is banned since October 2020, but there are large number of industrial units in
Punjab that have already invested in electroplating plants and are not allowed to peruse with treatment of their industrial effluent due to the ban. Government should allow the industry to enrol for the treatment of their effluent.”
Kular also added, “More than 75% of the total bicycle and sewing machine industry of India, operates from Ludhiana, out of which, 90% operates from the mixed-land use areas in Ludhiana, these industries are registered under MSME Act and have been working for last 60 years. The last date for shifting the industry from MLU area is September 18, 2023. These industrial units must be allowed to operate from mixed land use areas itself, rather than pressurising them to shift to the designated industrial areas.” The lists also include infrastructural suggestions . tnn
