25-year-old man rapes 2 minor girls in Gurugram, arrested

GURUGRAM: A 25-year-old daily wager was arrested for allegedly raping two girls – four and five years old – in Gurugram’s Badshapur on Friday, police said.
Adil, who belongs to Uttar Pradesh, normally took up whitewashing jobs in houses across the city. He allegedly took the two girls from near their houses in Goga Colony after offering them candy, police said.
The girls’ families are neighbours, and the accused man also lived there. Adil allegedly took the two girls to his rented accommodation and raped them. They managed to escape and alert passersby.
According to the police, they got information around 8:45pm on Friday that a crowd was beating up a man in the area.
“The crowd was thrashing the accused when we reached. We arrested the accused from the spot,” a police official said on Sunday.
The father of the 4-year-old girl told police they had been living in the area for the past 5 years and owned a TV repair shop.
“When I returned home from work that night, I found that a crowd had gathered and was beating up the accused. I called the cops right away,” he told the police in his complaint.
A medical examination confirmed rape, police said, adding that the girls were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are stable.
An FIR was registered at Badshapur police station under Section 6 (whoever commits sexual assault, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a minimum term of 10 years) of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
“The accused has been taken into one-day police remand,” the police official said.
