NOIDA: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a company supervisor on a service road near the Okhla bird sanctuary on May 10.
Police have also come to know that the murder of Rishipal Sharma (30) was planned by his second wife, Pooja, who wanted his property transferred in her name.
Sharma, who was from Badarpur in Delhi, was shot at by bike-borne assailants while he was on his way home. He was taken to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. He succumbed to injuries on Saturday.
Police lodged a murder case against unidentified persons and started an investigation. The two who were arrested on Sunday were identified as Aqeel, a resident of Aligarh, and Vishal, who is from Badarpur.
Ranvijay Singh, additional DCP, confirmed that the murder was planned by Sharma’s second wife. “During questioning, Aqeel told police that Sharma was divorced from his first wife, Meenu, and then married Pooja. Vishal, who was arrested, is Pooja’s son from her first husband. Pooja and Aqeel were in an illicit relationship,” he added.
Pooja and Aqeel met at a private hospital where she worked and entered into a relationship. “Aqeel’s wife was admitted at that hospital. Pooja told Aqeel that her husband had a lot of property in his name,” the senior officer said.
Pooja then asked Vishal and Aqeel to help him carry out the murder. “The hired a contract killer, Mehendi Hasan, for Rs 50,000. On May 10, Aqeel gave his motorcycle to Vishal and Hassan. They followed Sharma and fired at him at a secluded spot near the bird sanctuary. He was taken to the District Hospital and then referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi. He died there on Saturday,” the officer said.
The cops are looking for Pooja and Hassan, who are on the run.
