Chennai: Constable beats up MTC conductor, suspended

CHENNAI: A police constable was suspended for beating up an MTC bus conductor for spitting on the road at Saidapet on Sunday.
Balachandran, 47, a conductor with MTC, was out to sip tea at 7.30 am. He spit on the road seconds before constable John Louis was passing by. An argument broke out after Louis told him he is opposed to Balachandran spitting in public.
The conductor told the cop that it was an inadvertent mistake and apologised, but the cop was in no mood to listen.
Louis cornered the victim and beat him up. Balachandran sustained heavy injuries on his face.
The video of the MTC staff sustaining severe bleeding injuries on his face went viral on social media. A few locals picked up an argument with the cop condemning his act. Passersby rushed the conductor to a nearby government hospital where he is being treated. Balachandran works at the MTC bus depot in Ayanavaram.
