SURAT: A diamond broker was cheated by a man who offered him five carat diamonds at a cheap rate. When the broker took the diamonds for valuation, he came to know that the diamonds were fake. He filed a complaint with
Chowkbazar police.
According to the police, Jaysukh
Kakadiya (34), a native of Bhavnagar, lives in
Amrutkunj society in Kamrej and runs a diamond brokerage business from Ved road area. He generally purchases diamonds from different small traders and sells them to other brokers and merchants.
On April 28, he went to his office around 9am and did his regular business. When he was about to close his office around 8pm, a man named Ajeet
Sheikh approached him saying he had got five diamonds of five carat which were worth around Rs 50,000. After discussion, the deal was finalized for Rs 37,000.
Kakadiya gave Sheikh Rs 37,000 in cash and received five diamonds. He recorded the cash transaction on his mobile phone as a proof. When Kakadiya went for valuation of the diamonds, he came to know that all the five diamonds were fake. He immediately tried to call Sheikh but his mobile phone was switched off. After all attempts to contact Sheikh failed, Kakadiya filed a cheating complaint with Chowkbazar police on Saturday.
