Puntacana Resort & Club announces renovation of The Westin Hotel and La Cana Golf Course

REPORT - TRAVEL DAILY NEWS - PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA - Puntacana Resort & Club announced the remodeling and new construction works of The Westin Hotel and La Cana Golf Course within the agenda of the 22nd edition of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange 2022 (DATE), organized by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).

Carmen Rosa de Torres, Sales and Hospitality Director of Puntacana Resort & Club, announced the renovations in The Westin Hotel includes the complete remodeling of the Brassa and Anani restaurants, new bars and the construction of two new themed restaurants, a steakhouse and an Asian influence cuisine, expanding the world-class gastronomic experience offered by Puntacana Resort & Club.

She also informed that the hotel is expanding conference rooms, adding two new meeting rooms with a capacity for 150 and 400 people. The new layout will allow it to be subdivided into four smaller rooms, for 100, 200, 300 and 400 people, including a new open terrace for those attending conferences, conventions and social events.

At the same time, they announced the renovation of 200 hotel rooms with upgraded furnishings, stylish new ambiance and modern technological equipment. In addition, they highlighted the transformation of the Lobby Bar, pool area and a new gazebo on the beach, perfect for weddings, photo sessions and special events.

According to the remodeling schedule, the first stage of room remodeling begins on June 27, 2022. Hotel will be closed from September 1st to October 15th, reopening October 16th, 2022. Hiram Silfa, Director of Golf Courses at Puntacana Resort & Club, informed that the remodeling of the La Cana golf course (9 holes of Tortuga Bay) includes a new landscaping for the entire golf course, with renovation and change of sand in the bunkers, the reconstruction of tees and greens, new irrigation systems in each hole and the replacement of the grass with a new hybrid paspalum variety (Pure Dynasty Paspalum) in each of the holes on the course.

In addition, bunkers will be added and repositioned on holes 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8, with an additional 20-yard extension on hole 1, and 15 yards on hole 2, with repositioning of traps on fairways and green complex. Also, hole 4 will be rebuilt, extending to the right the landing area for a more player-friendly experience, as well on holes 7 and 8 grass will be enlarged.
