Chennai man sexually assaults minor girl on moving train, arrested

TIRUPATTUR: A 65-year-old man from Vadapalani in Chennai was arrested on Sunday on charges of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl on a moving train near Jolarpet in Tirupattur district.
The arrested man has been identified as S Samuel.
Police said a woman and her daughter from Chennai were returning to the city on a train from Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Samuel was allotted a seat next to the minor girl.
The minor girl woke up in the early hours of Sunday after the man sexually assaulted her by touching her lips and private parts. The girl immediately alerted her mother. Her mother lodged a complaint with the TTE, who handed the man over to the railway police.
The Jolarpet police booked him under sections 7 (sexual assault) and 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012.
