CHENNAI: The number of daily new Covid-19 cases has been on the decline for the third consecutive day. On Sunday, as many as 30 people tested positive but not a single case was reported from 31 districts in the state.
Chennai once again had the maximum number of new cases (16) with a Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of one percent –- which is also higher compared to the state's figure of 0.2% after testing roughly more than 16,000 samples every day. But a brisk recovery rate has helped in bringing down the number of active cases in the district below the 200-mark on Sunday.
Overall, TN has 359 patients undergoing treatment and among them only 17 needed hospitalisation. The remaining have mild symptoms and are in home quarantine.
Also for yet another day, not a single person died of Covid-19 in TN and hence the death toll remains unaltered at 38,025. As far as vaccination was concerned, TN health minister Ma Subramanian said nearly two crore people are due for their vaccines and a special camp will be organised on June 12 to administer jabs.
