What did Centre do for Telangana in 8 years: Congress

HYDERABAD: Congress on Sunday tried to expose the double standards of BJP by stating that it is the Narendra Modi government at the Centre that allowed chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family to indulge in corruption for last eight years and is now trying to mislead the people of Telangana by accusing TRS government of being the most corrupt.
Referring to Union home minister Amit Shah’s speech at a public meeting on Saturday, former minister and exPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah asked the state BJP leaders why the Modi government was not ordering CBI or ED investigation against the ‘corrupt’ TRS government.
On one side, Shah did not dare utter a word about rising prices of diesel, petrol, gas and other essential commodities, while on the other, he did not not talk about giving national status to any irrigation project in Telangana, he said.
“What has the BJP government at the Centre done for Telangana in the last eight years that its leaders, including Amit Shah and Bandi Sanjay, want people to bring the saffron party to power in the state,” Lakshmaiah said. He demanded that BJP and TRS governments should release a white paper on their respective election manifestos and how many promises have been implemented till date. “The Congress is ready for a debate,” he said.
Shah said BJP, if voted to power in Telangana, would buy every grain of paddy. “BJP is trying to fool people of Telangana. BJP is in power at the Centre. Let it buy paddy or boiled rice from Telangana,” he said. TRS government and BJP government at the Centre were levying huge taxes on petrol and diesel. “The Centre is increasing the prices of LPG. They are doing this at a time when the income of people has gone down due to the pandemic, he said.
