India reports 2,202 new Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths in 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India reported 2,202 new Covid-19 infections and 27 fatalities in the last 24 hours less than 2,487 cases and 13 deaths registered during the previous day, according to the Union health ministry data released on Monday.

With this India's tally of cases rose to 4,31,23,801 and death toll to 5,24,241, even as active caseload in the country dipped to 17,317 — a decline by 375 cases, say the government data.

The Covid-19 cases in the country fell by around 20% in the week ending Sunday after rising for four weeks running. The weekly positivity rate at present is 0.59 per cent.
Meanwhile, 2,550 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

Also, a total of 1,91,37,34,314 people have been vaccinated so far, including 3,10,218 in the last 24 hours, while a total of 2,97,242 tests were done during the previous day.
