16 killed, several hurt in four fatal accidents across Jaipur

JODHPUR/ALWAR/AJMER/UDAIPUR: Sixteen persons were killed in four different accidents in Sirohi, Rajsamand, Alwar and Ajmer on Sunday.
In Sirohi, six persons were killed in a fatal accident Sunday morning when a trailer-truck jumped off the divider and smashed into another truck, followed by two cars passing through the same road ramming into the truck. The victims of the accident were identified as Unaram Dewasi (47) a resident of Udwariya, Sugna Dewasi (18), Pavni Devi (30) a resident of Shivganj in Sirohi, her three-month-old daughter, Champa Devi (60), a resident of Pali, and Lalita Devi (50) a resident of Sirohi.
Police said that eight others were injured in the accident and were undergoing treatment. According to Sirohi SP Dharmendra Singh Yadav, the trailer-truck had lost control before it hit and crossed the divider and ran straight into a truck coming from the opposite direction near Uthman toll plaza.
In the confusion, two other cars following the truck rammed into it from behind in quick succession.
The Sirohi police said that Unaram Dewasi was travelling in his car with his daughter Sugna Kumari who was to appear for the constable recruitment exam. "En route, Dewasi gave lift to some other persons, which included Pavni Devi and her two daughters, Parvati (5) and a three-month-old infant. There were two other passengers who are yet to be identified," said the police. Police said that four persons, including Dewasi and his daughter, died on the spot. "Two badly injured passengers were rushed to the hospital but succumbed during transit. They have not been identified," said the officer.
In another accident in Rajsamand, four persons, including a five-year-old boy, were killed and seven others injured when a private bus rammed into a truck.
The accident took place at 4.30pm near Mansingh ji ka Gura on National Highway 6 when a bus travelling from Surat to Jaipur rammed into a trailer-truck while attempting to overtake it.
Charbhuja SHO Bhavani Shankar said the victims have been identified as Vinod Nenwani (43) a resident of Nagpur in Maharashtra; Faiz (5), a resident of Bharuch in Gujarat; Zaheer Abbas (45), also a resident of Bharuch; and Iqrar Ali (33), a resident of Budaun in Uttar Pradesh.
Six others were injured in the accident and taken to a hospital.
In Alwar, four members of a family were killed after a truck collided with their autorickshaw on the Alwar-Sikandra highway under the Rajgarh police station area at 4.30am.
Police said the victims travelling in the autorickshaw were on their way to a temple in Bandikui. They have been identified as Hari Ram (50), his wife Rajjo Devi (48), son Dablu Ram (26) and his wife Meera Devi (24).
In Ajmer, two persons were killed and 12 others injured after a private bus rammed into a truck near Nareli bypass. Two passengers, Jagdish (26), a resident of Bharatpur, and Ramesh Meena (28), a resident of Udaipur, died in the accident.
