Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived in Lumbini, Nepal as part of his official visit on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti

Amid the ongoing crucial times, India and Nepal's ever-strengthening friendship will serve the benefit of the entire humanity, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday while addressing a programme in Lumbini on Buddha Purnima.
"India and Nepal's ever-strengthening friendship, in the kind of global conditions that are being created today, our closeness will serve the benefit of the entire humanity," Modi said.
While talking about the development projects, Modi said that the construction of the Lumbini Museum in Nepal is also an example of joint cooperation between the two countries.
"Today we also decided to establish Dr Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies in Lumbini Buddhist University," he said.
Meanwhile, amid Modi's official visit to Lumbini, Nepal, both sides signed six memorandum of understanding (MoUs) and agreements.
According to the PMO, MoU was signed between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Lumbini Buddhist University on the establishment of Dr Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies
Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and CNAS, Tribhuvan University also signed an MoU on the establishment of ICCR Chair of Indian Studies, it said.
"Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Kathmandu University (KU) on the establishment of the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies," said PMO.
Also, a memorandum of understanding was signed in collaboration between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), India
"Letter of Agreement (LoA) between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal and Indian Institute of Technology (IITM), India (for a joint degree program at master’s level), according to the PMO.
SJVN and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) also signed an agreement for the development and implementation of the Arun 4 project.
Modi on Monday arrived in Lumbini, Nepal as part of his official visit on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
He was received by Prime Minister Bahadur Deuba and his spouse Arzu Rana Deuba and several Ministers from the government of Nepal.
As Prime Minister, this is his fifth visit to Nepal and first to Lumbini. Modi also visited the Mayadevi Temple as the first stop of his one-day visit to Lumbini.
