NOIDA: A 23-year-old man was allegedly killed with a piece of stone by three bike-borne men following an argument with them in Sector 106 on Saturday night.
Abhay Tyagi alias Gullu, a resident of Bhangel and a daily wage labourer, had gone out with a few friends to drink beer and was returning home when the alleged assault took place around 11pm on Saturday.

“Three men on two bikes were passing by. One of the bikes hit Gullu, which led to an argument. He initially asked them to ride slowly and carefully. When they abused him, Gullu picked up a piece of stone and hurled at them,” said Sujeet Upadhyay, the SHO of Phase 2 police station.
This enraged the trio. They pinned him to the ground and allegedly hit him repeatedly with a piece of stone on the head until he lost consciousness and a lot of blood. “After the assault, the accused fled in two different directions,” the SHO said. Gullu’s friends have told police they were too drunk to intervene and also scared as the three accused were well-built. Gullu was rushed to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
“We are questioning his friends to gather more details. They couldn’t provide any registration number for the bikes. We are asking people on the road for clues,” Upadhyay said.
The road where the alleged assault took place does not have CCTV cameras, the police said. But the cops have scanned footage from 30 other cameras that are installed in nearby areas. But most of the clips are of bad quality, they said.
“A case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. Two teams have been formed to probe the assault. One team is busy checking CCTV cameras while the other team is questioning people from the area where the incident took place,” the SHO said.
