After deadly heatwave, Delhi sees marginal dip in max temperature
Partly cloudy sky led to a marginal dip in the maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday though it was still two to four notches above normal. At the Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's base station, the maximum temperature settled at 42.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. It was 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest this year so far, on Sunday.

Despite record day temperatures in Delhi, the power demand in the past few days has declined mainly due to holidays, discom officials said on Monday. A tormenting heatwave swept through the city on Sunday with the mercury leaping to 49.2 degrees Celsius at Mungeshpur in northwest Delhi and 49.1 degrees Celsius at Najafgarh in the city's southwest.

Fire in shelter for workers near Parliament House
A fire broke out on Monday in a temporary shelter for workers near Parliament House in central Delhi, officials said. The fire department said that the information regarding the blaze in the high-security area was received at 4.16 PM, following which five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. There was no immediate report of any casualty.
No time to grieve: Women survivors of Delhi fire worried about livelihood, future
"It is like a video continuously playing in my head and I can still hear screams of people begging for help," says 45-year-old Mamta, one of the survivors of the Mundka fire tragedy. Cop stabbed in Delhi
A Delhi Police personnel, who went to nab an accused involved in a stabbing incident, was attacked and knifed by the same accused, an official said on Monday. The accused was identified as Virender alias Kala Badal of Jharera Village, a bad character of Delhi Cantt. police station. Mundka fire: Probe ordered; cause, violations to be examined
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into Friday’s Mundka fire that left many injured and claimed at least 27 lives. The order of the inquiry, to be conducted bythe district magistrate (West), has been issued byDelhi government’s home department on Sunday, by order and in the name of lieutenant governor Anil Baijal. On Saturday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the site and announcedthat a magisterial inquiry has been ordered intothe incident, apart from announcing a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
