NAGPUR: Kendra Pramukhs at Zilla Parishads are demanding permanent travel allowance at par with that of gram sewaks paid on a monthly basis saying they have to undergo a lot of travel in villages.
The association representing kendra pramukhs has written to the state government for their request to be heeded to at the earliest.
“The gram sevaks working in ZP are getting Rs 1,650 per month, currently we are not getting anything. They stopped it long way. We too are demanding the same amount as a fixed component in our salaries,” said senior member Sharad Bhandarkar, adding, “If the work of gram sevaks is compared with their members, then kendra pramukhs travel much more.”
On further comparison between the two, Bhandarkar said, “On an average, a gram sevak tours just one or two villages. Despite this, the state government has approved permanent travel allowance for them. Our members travel anywhere between 10 to 15 villages and yet our members have not received any thing,” said Bhandarkar.
He added that kendra pramukhs are dealing with three to five gram panchayats and that’s why their average village tour is much higher than gram sevaks. “But it seems that the state government is not interested in looking after the well being of our members. Hence, our association is now raising its voice to ensure that kendra pramukhs get what is due to them,” said Bhandarkar.
