Vadodara: Eyes are now set on Monday’s meeting between representatives of state’s blacktrap quarries and the state government. Amit Suthar of GBQIA said that the government was sympathetic to their demands and will discuss the issues faced by the industry. “We are hopeful that a solution will be worked out at the meeting,” he said. The main demands of the quarry owners include allowing lease on private land, a change in the system adopted for measuring the mines, use of quarry dust instead of sand wherever possible and several others. The government had reached a written agreement with the association regarding their demands in December 2016, but no development took place after that.
