Gurgaon: A 60-year-old man died after his vehicle was allegedly hit by a speeding truck near Jhajjar bypass while he was returning from a wedding. Ramesh Nath Wazir, the deceased, had rented a minivan for the wedding from his residence in
Panipat to Jamalpur village in Gurgaon’s
Farrukhnagar, cops told.
According to the victim’s son, Sachin Nath, who is the complainant in the case, his father left for the wedding with relatives in the rented
Eeco on May 9. On May 10, when he was returning from the wedding along with six others at around 2pm, a speeding truck rammed into his four wheeler.
“While everyone else was saved, Ramesh Nath received a head injury and was rushed to the nearby hospital by the passersby. He was later referred to Safdarjung hospital where he died during the treatment,” Sachin said.
An FIR was filed at Farrukhnagar police station under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the
IPC on May 13. “We are scanning nearby
CCTV cameras. The truck driver is on the run,” a police officer said.
