A Bangladeshi national was arrested on Friday for staying in the city illegally. The Veerapandi police identified the accused as Alamin Miaalam, 33, from Bangladesh. He was working with a private garment export firm on Palladam main road in the city for the past one year.
Tirupur: A Bangladeshi national was arrested on Friday for staying in the city illegally. The Veerapandi police identified the accused as Alamin Miaalam, 33, from Bangladesh. He was working with a private garment export firm on Palladam main road in the city for the past one year. A police officer said they spotted Miaalam at Soudambigai Nagar at 2pm on Friday during a routine patrol. “As we felt something was amiss with him, we held an inquiry and came to he was a native of Bangladesh. He did not possess any valid documents, including visa and passport.” Police registered a case against Miaalam under Sections 3(2)(c) and 14(A)(b) of the Foreigners Act and arrested him. He was produced before a judicial magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody. He was lodged in the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai on Saturday. tnn
