Gurgaon: The district reported 273 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, a drop of 17% from the previous day. Gurgaon reported 330 Covid-19 cases on Friday.
On Saturday, the maximum number of cases were reported from
Chanderlok (65), followed by 32 each in
Wazirabad and Tigra.
The number of active cases, however, increased to 1,236 from 1,170 the day before. As many as 207 people recovered. The positivity rate dipped to 7.83% from 9.06% on Friday.
According to the health department, 13
Covid patients are hospitalised and the remaining 1,223 are in home isolation. A total of 3,485 people were tested for Covid by government and private labs in the past 24 hours.
“Every day around 300 cases are being reported from the district and this is going to continue. The peak of cases will be seen after May 20 and in the first week of June, they are going to further decline,” said Gurgaon chief medical officer (CMO)
Virender Yadav.
Though the number of cases at present is low, doctors said that people need to wear face masks whenever stepping outside to curb the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, 10 people turned up for the booster doses meant for people travelling abroad. The travellers can take the booster dose three months after their second dose. A total of 8,383 people got vaccinated out of whom 1,658 were children in the age group of 12 to 14 years, 1098 were people aged above 18 years and 4,206 people between the age group of 18 and 59 years got booster doses.
The health officials said that no vaccination will be held at government institutions on Sunday.
