Vadodara: A young woman from the city allegedly fell prey to persons who claimed to be offering loans through mobile applications. The woman has claimed that the loan was deposited in her account even when she had not applied for it.
An offence registered by the woman at the cybercrime police station stated that she was given a loan of Rs 1,950 without her knowledge. The amount was deposited in her Bank of Baroda account.
The woman alleged that the accused then started asking for repayment of Rs 3,000 towards the loan, including interest. They started calling her up from different mobile phone numbers claiming to represent different instant loan mobile applications.
The accused then forwarded an image of her Aadhaar card with her phone number and ‘call girl 500 for one night’ written on it to various persons in her contact list including her relatives. The accused even abused her and threatened to morph the pictures of the woman and her daughter to make them viral.
