As many as 27 people lost their lives in Delhi's Mundka fire incident.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has initiated a probe into the fire incident in Mundka that claimed at least 27 lives. Commissioner of the civic body, Sanjay Goel, directed the deputy commissioner to survey the Narela zone on Saturday and report which factories are running without a licence and if they are not following the rules and regulations.

“DCs of six zones have also been ordered to conduct similar surveys in all zones and find out which buildings are running illegally and submit the report within 48 hours,” said Sanjay Goel.

The probe by the additional commissioner into the Mundka fire will focus on aspects like

- The type of area where the building was located

- Whether it is residential, lal dora, agriculture or other categories

- The construction year and height of the building

- The building plan was sanctioned or not

- Purpose for which the building was being used and whether this purpose was permissible or not.

- The building has NOC from the Delhi Fire Department or not, factory licence, trade licence, etc

Delhi Fire Service Chief Atul Garg said that till now no factory has received NOC in the Mundka area. Thousands of factories are estimated to be running in the area.

The orders from Sanjay Goel came after questions were raised about the role and responsibility of the civic bodies regarding such illegal establishments. The commissioner has demanded action taken on the report within 10 days in this regard.

Till now, the police have identified only 8 bodies out of 27 who were charred to death in the Mundka building fire incident. DNA test will be conducted to identify the bodies. As many as 29 people have been reported missing in the Mundka fire incident.
