Thiruvananthapuram: In the high-level meeting convened by chief secretary V P Joy in the wake of the heavy rain alert in the state between May 14 and 16, all the district collectors have been urged to take all precautionary measures to meet any eventuality.
It has also been decided that people should not be allowed to enter into the water bodies like rivers and lakes since anytime the water level may increase.
People have also been asked to stay away from trips to hilly terrains.
The public should follow the instructions of the district administration and the disaster management authority and should shift to the nearest camps if there is a red alert.
The Kerala State Electricity Board authorities have been asked to keep up the vigil to prevent the people from getting electrocuted during heavy rains.
Police have been asked to provide adequate security to the people who are living in those areas where there is high chances of landslides.
Police and fire force have been asked to provide all help to the district administrations.
The district where high alert has been issued, special control rooms will be opened. All the tourists have been asked to avoid the night travel.
The disaster management authority will be convening emergency meetings in the respective districts if the water levels are increasing in any rivers or dams.
The authority will be providing the guidance to the district administration on this.
The chief secretary has asked the district collectors where high alert has been declared to set up relief camps to shift the people.
All the district police chiefs have been asked to keep the police force ready to help the district administration.
