GREATER NOIDA: Two drug traffickers, who allegedly supplied cocaine to peddlers in Delhi-NCR, have been arrested from
Greater Noida, officials said on Saturday. Police have also seized 200 grams of cocaine worth around Rs 16 lakh in the international market.
According to cops, the accused — Rajesh Singh (25) and Bintu Singh (32), both residents of Gunnaur in Sambhal district of
Uttar Pradesh, were arrested during a routine check on the GT Road in Dadri. “Cops spotted a bike with a mud-covered number plate and signaled it to stop. The two men were searched and 100 grams each of cocaine was recovered from the two riders,” Ravinder Singh, SHO of Badalpur police station, said.
Cops have impounded the bike and also recovered cash worth Rs 93,000 from the two.
The accused claimed they had come to Delhi from Badaun to supply the cocaine to a peddler. The estimated value of 1 gram of cocaine varies from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8000,” the officer said, adding that the accused have stated that they had supplied such consignment twice earlier as well.
“We have got in touch with our counterparts in Delhi and nearby districts and will launch a manhunt against these peddlers,” Ravinder said.
The two accused have been booked under Sections 8/22 (punishment for contravention in relation to psychotropic substances) of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
On Friday, another peddler who sold cannabis was held by the
Bisrakh police.
