YAVATMAL: A fast-track court in Darwha, on Thursday, sentenced a 24-year-old man to triple life imprisonment for sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl within 60 days of the incident. The incident happened on March 13. The police completed the probe in 10 days and filed the charge sheet. Holding the man guilty under Section 376 of IPC, judge HL Manwar sentenced the man to life term in jail and imposed Rs5,000 fine. The judge also found the man guilty under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and awarded second life term along with Rs5,000 fine, while the third life imprisonment was given under Atrocities Act along with Rs5,000 fine. All sentences will run concurrently, the judge said and ordered the fine amount be given to the survivor. According to the police, Sanjay Jadhav, a resident of Borgaon village under Arni police jurisdiction, promised chocolate to the survivor — who is a the daily wager’s daughter — to lure her to his house on March 13. He sexually exploited the girl and warned not to disclose it to others and sent her home. When the girl’s mother returned home from work, she noticed bloodstains on daughter’s clothes. After the girl narrated the incident, the mother took the kid to Arni police station and lodged FIR. The police sent both the girl and the accused for medical examination, which confirmed rape. The case was placed before fast-track court and statements of 12 witnesses were recorded. The probe was conducted by SDPO Aditya Mirkhelkar of Darwha along with Arni PSO Pitambar Jadhav. Superintendent of police Dilip Patil Bhujbal honoured the cops with a cash reward of Rs50,000 and merit certificates for their exemplary work.
