PATNA: A 38-year-old youth wing leader of the
RJD was shot dead near his house at Rajghat village under Meerganj police station area in
Gopalganj district on Thursday night. The deceased,
Ram Iqbal Yadav, was shot twice by unidentified criminals while he was about to reach his home on a bike after attending a tilak (pre-wedding) ceremony, Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar said. “Three persons have been detained and investigation is going on,” Kumar said on Friday.

Iqbal was a teacher in a college at Kuchaikote and headed the RJD youth wing in Saran division. He is survived by his wife and three children. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Reyazul Haque alleged political conspiracy behind Ram Iqbal’s murder. “He was very active in politics and a dedicated party worker. His contribution was benefiting the party. This is simply a political murder,” said Iqbal.
The Gopalganj unit of the RJD lashed out at the government over the deteriorating law & order situation in the state.
“Our leaders and workers are being targeted by the criminals given protection by those in power as well as white collared men in the government. Such is the condition of law and order that a common man is living in fear. No one is safe from the top to bottom,” read a tweet shared by the RJD Gopalganj unit.
