NEW DELHI: Delhi
Police has opened a history-sheet on
AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan to "keep his activities under surveillance as prosecutions failed to keep him in check".
The history-sheet was opened at
Jamia Nagar police station, making Khan a listed "
Bad Character" or history-sheeter of the area. The move would allow police to take stringent surveillance and preventive measures against the Okhla MLA.
The SHO of Jamia Nagar police station moved a proposal for declaring Khan a "Bad Character" on March 28. The proposal got a nod by DCP (Southeast) two days later. On Thursday, police had arrested Khan for obstructing a demolition drive.
According to the history-sheet proposal, Khan had 18 cases lodged against him, but he was discharged or acquitted in at least 10 of them. Most cases were related to threatening, intimidation, hurt, riot, causing hindrance in duties of public servants and causing enmity between two groups and communities.
"The proposed Bad Character Amanatullah Khan, a resident of Khajuri Road, Jamia Nagar, attended Jamia Millia Islamia, but didn't complete his degree. He was educated till Class XII, which he passed in 1992-93. He is married and has two children," it stated.
The proposal alleged that Khan started his business at Jamia Nagar. "Soon, he made a group consisting of people from his and his neighbouring villages and they engaged in land grabbing and illegal constructions. As he has become a habitual criminal and prosecution against him has failed to deter him from criminal activities, his activities need to be kept in surveillance," it added.
