Queen Elizabeth is happy and healthy, despite recent headlines.

The monarch, who marks 70 years on the throne in Platinum Jubilee celebrations next month, had the best day out during a surprise appearance at the Windsor Horse Show on Friday.

According to People, the 96-year-old was driven the short distance from her Windsor Castle home to see three of her fell ponies participate in the race. But it was her joyful appearance that stole the show.

Photos show Her Majesty – who missed the State Opening of Parliament on Tuesday due to "episodic mobility problems" – in great spirits as she watched one of her fell ponies, Balmoral Leia, win the Highland Class from the comfort of her Range Rover.

Later in the morning, she made her way to her seat next to her son Prince Edward in the stands.

The queen got a special treat when her great-granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor rode by in the saddle of her beloved late husband Prince Philip's carriage as she led a parade through the arena.
