AMBALA: The members of
Sarv Samaj (all societies) have given a call to carry out a 'Peace March' against "communal forces" in Ambala on May 16, following BJP Ambala City MLA Aseem Goel's continuous push for Hindu rashtra bid.
Three posters were circulated on social media giving a call to gather for attending the peace march in Ambala on May 16.
The contact numbers of Ambala residents including Abdul Ghaffar Khan, Samu, Sukhdev Singh Gobindgarh, Harpal Singh Pali, Bunty Balana, Gurutej Singh Antal, and Baljinder Singh Chudiala are mentioned on the posters.
One poster under the banner of 'Sarv Samaj Ambala', reads, "BJP MLA Aseem Goel has taken an oath to break integrity of the nation and to make Hindu rashtra; to oppose this a peace march is being carried out from (Gurdwara) Manji Sahib, Ambala to SP office and to get a case of spreading communalism registered against Aseem Goel, this march will give a message of unity among all the religions and to maintain the integrity of the nation."
Second poster reads, "Against communal forces
Gurdwara Manji Sahib Ambala 9 am May 16."
The third poster reads, "#fightcommunalism Join in large numbers against communal politics. Save your identity and our brotherhood & sisterhood. Rise against division in the name of HinduRashtra. BJP's MLA Aseem Goyal took oath to make India a Hindurashtra in Ambala a few weeks ago. This is an attempt to boycott him and his communalisation. Lets gather in larger number to resist such dismissal of other identities and homogenisation of India. The country belongs to Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians equally. 16 May - Monday,
Gurdwara Manji Sahib Ambala."
MLA Aseem courted controversy recently after he was caught on video allegedly taking an oath "to make India a Hindu rashtra (nation)." This pledge by administered on May 1 by a news TV channel editor at
Samajik Chetna Sangathan's seminar on the 'Uniform Civil Code' at Aggarwal Bhawan in Ambala city.
Following, a group of citizens from Haryana's Ambala district including functionaries of SGPC, SAD and INLD, had demanded the registration of a sedition case against MLA Aseem Goel on May 4, which was marked for enquiry to Ambala DSP Joginder.
After May 1, MLA Aseem again pushed Hindu rashtra bid in Mullana at an event in Mullana organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap Singh, where to suit his agenda he even wrongly quoted text from Ugardanti bani (holy writings) from Dasam Granth Sahib, written by 10th
Sikh master,
Guru Gobind Singh.
In connection with complaint lodged against MLA Goel on May 4, Ambala police are awaiting an opinion from a legal adviser to establish whether MLA Aseem Goel's Hindu Rashtra bid is an offence or not.
When contacted on Friday, Ambala superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said, "We have marked the complaint (against MLA) for obtaining a legal opinion to ascertain whether it is an offence or not and what does the old judgements in such cases say and further action will be taken on the basis of the same. We are expecting the legal opinion in a week or so."
