Gujarat: 72% students clear HSC Science examination

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared the result of HSC Science stream on Thursday. In all, 72.02% students passed in the examination against 71.34% last year.
In 2022, total 95,361 regular students appeared in the Class 12 (science) examination. Of them, 68,681 got success. The pass percentage in A group (Mathematics) was 78.40% and in B group (Biology) 68.58%.
The girls once again outscored the boys, this time by a thin margin. The pass percentage of the girls was 72.05% and of the boys was 72%.
English-medium students again fared better than Gujarati-medium students. As against 72.57 % result of English-medium students, 72.04% students from Gujarati-medium schools cleared the exam.
Lathi in Amreli posted the highest result where 96.12% students successfully cleared the exam.
The lowest 33.33% result was reported from Limkheda. Rajkot district secured the highest 85.78% pass percentage while the tribal-dominated Dahod district recorded the lowest percentage at 40.19%. This is the third year in the row that Rajkot district has posted the highest pass percentage.
A total of 64 schools recorded 100% results this year. The number of schools securing 10% or lower pass percentage also increased to 61 compared to 49 in 2021 and 29 in 2019.
In 2021, the number of students who secured A1 grade was 265 which dropped to 196 this year. Education minister Jitu Vaghani said that Gujarat was the first state in the country where all examinations in March 2022 were conducted under CCTV surveillance.
