AMBALA: Addressing an event organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap at KL Resort near Mullana town in Ambala district, Ambala City BJP MLA Aseem Goel once against pushed the Hindu Rashtra bid.
Kurukshetra MP Nayab Singh Saini was also present in this event along with former Barara MLA Rajbir.
During the event, MLA Aseem also quoted text from holy writings from Dasam Granth Sahib written by the tenth Sikh master Sri Guru Gobind Singh. He also used famous poems of poet Muhammad Iqbal in his speech.
In his address, MLA Aseem Goel said, "I talked of Hindu Rashtra and did not speak against any religion. By Hindu Rashtra, I meant that a Hindu considers all religions and his heart is big. If there can be Islamic Rashtra then why not Hindu rashtra. Many of our friends are permanent residents in Dubai, an Islamic nation. British also live there and Hindustanis also live there, but it is an Islamic nation. If their culture is motivated by Islam, then where is the problem. We are not saying that anybody who is living here should stop their religious practices and change their religion."
Aseem said their ancestors talked of making India a Hindu Rashtra and asked the gathering whether Bharat (India) should become Hindu Rashtra or not?
Wrongly quoting the bani of tenth Sikh Guru, MLA Aseem said, "Guru Gobind Singh said Sakal jagat mai khalsa panth sajai. Jagai dharam Hindu Turk dund bhajai. Guru Gobind Singh talked of Hindu Dharam..."
The actual text of this verse of the tenth Guru quoted from his Ugardanti writing by MLA Aseem is, "Sakal jagat mo khalsa panth gajai. Jagai dharam Hinduk Turkan dund bhajai." - which is translated in Sikh texts as "Throughout the world, the Khalsa Panth will be prominent. The Dharam (righteousness) will prevail and there will be no dund (fight between two rivals) between Hindus (Indian subcontinent) and Turks (Mughals from Turkey).
MLA Aseem also quoted Iqbal's poem, "Sare jahan se achha Hindustan hamara, hum bulbule hain iske yeh gulsitan hamara and Hindi hain hum watan hai Hindustan hamara."
MLA Aseem courted controversy recently after he was caught on video allegedly taking an oath to make India a Hindu Rashtra.
This pledge was administered on May 1 by a news channel editor at Samajik Chetna Sangathan's seminar on the 'Uniform Civil Code' at Aggarwal Bhawan in Ambala city.
When contacted on Friday, Ambala superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said, "We have marked the complaint (against MLA) for obtaining a legal opinion to ascertain whether it is an offence or not and what does the old judgements in such cases say and further action will be taken on the basis of the same. We are expecting the legal opinion in a week or so."
