Chandigarh: With the term of two members of the Rajya Sabha from Punjab set to expire in July 2022, the Election Commission of India (EC) has announced the schedule for biennial elections to the council of states from Punjab. Elections will be held on June 10 to fill seats that will fall vacant after the term of office of Rajya Sabha members Ambika Soni and Balwinder Singh expires on July 4. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Karuna Raju said the notification for the polls will be issued on May 24, nominations can be filed till May 31, scrutiny would be done on June 1 and the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be June 3. Polling will be held on June 10 from 9am to 4pm and counting will start an hour later, from 5pm. tnn
