PATNA: Patna high court issued an arrest warrant against Sahara chief Subrata Roy after he failed to appear before it on Friday. Irked by the repeated failure to appear before the court, a single bench of Justice Sandeep Kumar on Friday directed the issuance of an arrest warrant against Roy, so as to compel his attendance in the high court on May 16, the next date of hearing. The court had on Thursday rejected the petition filed on behalf of Roy seeking an extension of time for his personal appearance in the court. The time extension for personal appearance of Subrata was prayed on the ground of his “poor health”. The high court had given several opportunities to Sahara for furnishing a categorical reply about the payment of matured deposits of at least the marginal investors, for which more than 600 interlocutory applications were pending in the high court only.
