Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi, while addressing party workers at 'Nav Sankalp Chintan Shivir' in Udaipur, on May 13 said that Public Sector Companies built up by previous Congress governments with meticulous planning and consideration of economic and social objectives are now being privatised with a vengeance. “Promises made by the Prime Minister to the farmers when they withdrew their agitation are yet to be fulfilled. Meanwhile, the procurement of wheat will fall steeply. Price of essential items of mass consumption like cooking gas, oil and pulses are increasing. Petrol and diesel continue their upward march placing an intolerable burn on pockets of crores of families. Public sector companies built up by earlier Congress government with careful planning with the economic and social objective in mind by earlier Congress Government are now being privatised with vengeance,” she said.
