A fresh spell of heatwave is expected in several parts of the country for the next couple of days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its bulletin for the next couple of days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a spike in temperatures across parts of southern Haryana, Delhi and southern Punjab that might last till May 16. Subsequently, a yellow alert has been sounded in Gurugram from today. However, all hope is not lost as the IMD has predicted an early monsoon that will surely bring respite from the heat. Showers are expected to hit north India around May 15. Meanwhile, several parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are bracing for heavy rain as severe cyclone Asani weakened to a cyclonic storm on Wednesday.
