Light rain likely in north Bihar for next 4 days: Met office

PATNA: The cyclone Asani has started showing its partial impact with several parts of the state, including Patna, receiving light to moderate showers from Wednesday night. Patna Meteorological Centre has predicted light rainfall with possibility of thunderstorm at few places, primarily in north Bihar, over the next four days.
The Met office has also issued yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur and Banka districts on Friday. Yellow warning for similar turbulent weather has been issued for fewer districts in north Bihar on Saturday.
The places which received rainfall over the last 36 hours included Bikram in Patna (80.6mm), Sandesh in Bhojpur (40mm), Tarari in Bhojpur (32.4mm), Kiolwar in Bhojpur (21.6mm), Biharsharif in Nalanda (21.2mm) and Patna (16.4mm) among others.
Patna meteorological centre has predicted that the day temperature is likely to surge by two to four notches over the next two to three days. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was below 40 degrees C in the state on the fourth consecutive day this week. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Dehri in Rohtas (39.4 degrees C).
India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its all- India bulletin issued on Thursday evening, predicated Bihar is expected to witness scattered rainfall on Friday, followed by isolated showers over the next three days.
With regard to Asani, the IMD stated that it weakened into a well-marked low pressure area over coastal Andhra Pradesh by 8:30am on Thursday. It is likely to weaken further into a low pressure area during the next 12 hours.
The IMD also announced on Thursday that southwest monsoon is likely to advance into South Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around May 15.
