A consensus was seen developing within the Congress party on 'one family, one ticket' norm during the first day of the three day Chintan Shivir that started in Udaipur on May 13. There will be conditions and exemptions applied. The clause seemed to exclude the Gandhis. Only one member from a family would be eligible for a ticket. The ticket would be granted to another aspiring member if he/she has put in at least 5 years for the party's organisational work. The practice of holding different positions by few members would also be put to an end. These are some of the propositions in the committee's brainstorming session. Unanimity on the propositions is awaited for the enforcement of the norm.
