PATIALA: The enforcement wing of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) imposed a fine of Rs 26 lakh on a Dera situated at Bhikhiwind in Tarn-Taran district on charges of electricity theft. PSPCL officials on Thursday said that the enforcement team of Tarn Taran was investigating a complaint regarding electricity theft and during investigation, the team found that the theft was being committed by connecting a 30 KVA transformer to the nearby high-tension lines. Officials said that during the checking, a huge unauthorised load being used illegally was detected which included 17 air conditioners, seven geysers, four motors, 196 lights and 87 fans. The officials have sent a notice of Rs 26 lakh as penalty to the 'Dera' for theft of electricity and an FIR has also been lodged in connection with the case.
