Two given life for murder in drunken brawl

Thane: The Thane court convicted and sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a man in a drunken brawl in 2016 in Mira-Bhayander.
District Judge, SP Gondhalekar, convicted Sohail Mukhtar Shaikh, 34, and Ali aka Naushad Irshad Shaikh, 37, and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each, said Additional Public Prosecutor SP Morale. The prosecution said that the four accused, two of whom are absconding, killed the victim, Rais aka Roshan Shaikh, on July 9, 2016, and dumped his body beside a sewerage plant sewerage plant of the MBMC near a hotel. —Nishikant Karlikar
