The NSE Nifty index closed 359.1 points down at 15808.0, while BSE Sensex ended down 1158.08 points at 52930.31.
On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 6.13 per cent), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 5.79 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 4.12 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 4.08 per cent) and Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 3.95 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
