Mangaluru: ‘Udyami Aagu, Udyoga Needu’ (‘Be an Entrepreneur, Become an Employer’) a unique programme aimed at attracting youth to entrepreneurship, will be inaugurated by minister for large and medium industries Murugesh R
Nirani at the TMA Pai Convention centre on Thursday. Kaigarika Adalat for redressal of industrial issues will also be held. The programme is organised by
Karnataka Udyog Mitra, department of industries and commerce.
Doddabasavaraju, managing director, Karnataka Udyog Mitra, told the media on Wednesday, that the programme is a brainchild of minister Nirani, and is a beneficial platform for budding entrepreneurs and professional students, who have completed ITI, engineering, and MBA. “The daylong motivational programme shall provide a platform for technical students and budding entrepreneurs to directly interact with successful entrepreneurs and gain knowledge. Experts from various sectors and senior government officials will provide the necessary guidance and assistance. The event shall also host motivational sessions for the participants.”
Around 5,000 students from various colleges in the city and revenue regions of
Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are expected to take part through video conference. This programme is not limited to a day, but they aim to reach out to at least 50,000 students from 2-3 centres in every district.
About 40-50 hours of an online training programme will be held for the registered students. A total 10,000 selected students will get support and three days of in-house training with experts from Wipro, Infosys, or companies of other sectors of their interest.
“In the next phase, about 2,000 interested students will be allotted mentors, to guide them through their initiatives. In the final stage, the department will support them through the relevant schemes, and we expect at least 1,000 members to become entrepreneurs,’’ he said.
The programme received an overwhelming response, and attracted huge participation from the students in Bengaluru and Kalaburagi. The programme was started by chief minister
Basavaraj Bommai last year.
