Khalistani flags on HP assembly gate: Morinda driver arrested

Shimla/Patiala: Himachal Police on Wednesday morning arrested a resident of Morinda in Ropar district of Punjab in connection with tying Khalistani flags outside the Himachal Pradesh Assembly gate at Tapovan in Dharamshala on Sunday.
Police said that the accused identified as Harveer Singh, 31, is a driver who worked on daily wages.
Himachal chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said the accused has confessed to have put the Khalistani flag and graffiti on the outer wall of the assembly complex at Dharamshala. He said the Himachal Pradesh Police and the Punjab Police were looking for the second accused, Vaneet Singh, and he would also be arrested soon.
The CM also emphasised the state police has followed "rule of law" and "due process" and got the "search and arrest warrant'’ from the competent court in Dharamshala.
An FIR under sections 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence. language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony. Offence committed in place of worship, etc), 153-B (imputation, assertions prejudicial to national-integration) of IPC and section 3 of HP Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, 1985, section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was registered in Police Station Dharamshala on Sunday, on the complainant Ram Chand alias Ajay Kumar of Kaned village.
