Thane: 9 booked for stealing steel worth Rs 12 lakh

KALYAN: Six truck drivers and three cleaners supplying steel to a developer in Dombivli have been booked for duping him by stealing 16 tonnes of steel worth Rs 12 lakh. The police suspect that the accused might have stolen more steel.
The accused had installed an electronic chip in the wire of the electronic weighing machine at the builder's site and used to steal steel by manipulating weight, police said. Of the nine accused, the police have arrested a cleaner.
