Two arrested on charge of raping 12-year-old in Pimpri Chinchwad

PUNE: The Chinchwad police on Tuesday arrested a welding worker and an autorickshaw driver on the charge of raping a 12-year-old girl last month after threatening to kill her and her parents.
The girl informed her parents on Tuesday when one of the duo touched her inappropriately.An officer with the Chinchwad police told TOI that the girl’s mother has stated in her complaint that last month when her daughter was returning home from a flour mill, the 18-year-old welding worker forcibly took her to his autorickshaw driver friend’s room and raped her.
“The man then threatened the girl that he would kill her and her parents if she revealed anything about it to anyone,” the officer said.
The girl’s mother said the autorickshaw driver also came there and raped the girl. “On Monday, when the girl was outside her house, one of the duo outraged her modesty. The girl then narrated her ordeal to her parents,” the officer said.
The duo have been arrested under sections 376 (rape), 376-D (gang rape), 354-A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of Pocso Act.
