Man held for fratricide

Mangaluru: The Vittal police have arrested an accused on the charges of murdering his brother at Shirankallu in Kanyana village on Tuesday. The arrested accused is Aithappa Naika,47, from Kanyana village in Bantwal. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody, SP Rishikesh Sonawane said on Wednesday.
According to police, the deceased Balappa Naika, who was residing at Adyanadka in Enmakaje village, had come to his ancestral house with his mother, in connection with a religious ritual. The brothers reportedly clashed for a share in the paddy crop, that was cultivated on a disputed property. The fight resulted in the elder brother allegedly murdering his sibling, by hitting him with a wooden log on Tuesday.
