Mysuru: Various events will be held to mark the 80th birthday of Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami of
Avadootha Datta Peeta in
Mysuru from May 22 to May 31.
Junior seer Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swami said on Wednesday that various cultural and social events will be held including the distribution of aids to especially abled citizens as part of the celebrations. Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the newly constructed
Vijaya Hanuma Gopura at the Ashram.
On the same occasion, newly constructed temples at
Vasanthanagar and Bannimantap will also be inaugurated.
Kannada playback singer
Vijay Prakash, Mahesh Kale and others will take part in the cultural programme which will be held daily between 6. 30pm and 7.30pm during the celebrations.
A padayatra from Mekedatu, the birthplace of the pontiff, will be held from May 13 ahead of the birthday celebrations.
The six-day padayatra which will be held till May 18 will cover places like Doddalahalli, Sathanaur, Halagur, Malavalli, Bannur and reach the ashram. As many as 200 devotees of the ashram will be part of padayatra and will sing bhajans and keerthans along the stretch. Health camps will also be organized along the padayatra route.
