Mysuru: Scientists of the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) on Wednesday displayed seven technologies developed in 2021-22 to mark
National Technology Day.
The new technologies include gluten-free products such as gluten-free biscuits, cookies and cakes.
The majority of the products were developed by the flour milling baking and confectionery technology (FMBCT) department.
Chikki with drumstick Scientist R Chetana has developed a type of chikki with drumstick. This chikki is made from natural sources without preservatives. It is a greenish bar because of the debittered drumstick leaf powder in it. It also has wheat germ, black sesame and dehulled sunflower seeds and jaggery. According to scientists, it is good for immunity. The project cost is Rs 40 lakh.
The other products displayed were gluten-free biscuits (project cost Rs 16 lakh), cookie cake (project cost Rs 34 lakh), buckwheat noodles/pasta (project cost Rs 34 lakh), and multigrain cookies (project cost Rs 40 lakh).

Pushpa S Murthy, was also presented at the event. Another exhibit was a high-performance advanced oxidation process for greywater and industrial wastewater (food and non-food). It was developed by scientist
Sandeep Mudaliar.
The chief guest of the event was K Chidananda Gowda, the former VC of Kuvempu University in
Shivamogga. hed spoke on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain.
A farmer armed with blockchain technology is likely to benefit as his products can be scanned from any part of the world and their value can be determined. “Blockchain value will be good. There is no bad side at all,” he said.
Gowda also observed that energy, food, water, environment and poverty will be the five top challenges people will face in the next 50 years.
