Dibrugarh: Workers of tea gardens owned by Apeejay Tea Group in the state protested on Wednesday over non-payment of wages and other issues. In Dibrugarh, workers of Kharjan tea estate in Panitola agitated under the banner of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), led by former Congress MLA and the outfit’s central vice-president Raju Sahu. “Today, workers of all Apeejay-owned tea gardens are participating in the protest in their respective gardens. The Apeejay group owns 17 tea gardens in Assam. The company has failed to clear the salaries of the staff and workers for last several months,” Sahu said. TNN
