Ludhiana: After almost three years, the municipal corporation reopened its swimming pool on Tuesday because of public demand. The facility was closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Balkar Sandhu attended the reopening ceremony. The season’s fee for using this pool is Rs 2,000 and a personal coach will cost another Rs 1,000. For the government employees and students, the pool charges are Rs 1,000 but the coaching fee remains Rs 1,000. The MC employees will pay Rs 800 for swimming and Rs 600 for coaching.
For the couples, the charges are Rs 3,000, besides a coaching fees of Rs 1,000. If they want to bring their children along, they’ll pay Rs 4,000 for the use of pool and Rs 1,000 for coaching. But the children must be above 12. On Mondays, the pool will remain closed for maintenance. Subdivisional officer (SDO)
Anshul Garcha of the operations and maintenance cell said: “The public wants more pool time but it’ll have to wait until Tuesday because we want to complete the maintenance. Swimming will be a good activity in the scorching heat.”
Swimming was one of tne many sporting activities that were suspended to avoid the spread of coronavirus in the city because of crowding and contact. All c ontact and team sport had also suffered.
