Noida:A 30-year-old Badarpur resident was allegedly shot at by two unidentified bike-borne criminals over some personal enmity on Tuesday, police said. The man, Rishipal Sharma, who works as a supervisor at a private company in Noida’s Sector 126, was returning home when he was allegedly attacked.
“We received a call at the emergency helpline number dial 112 from a passerby at around 4.30 pm informing about a person shot at on the service road near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station opposite Supernova building in sector 94,” Rajesh S, the deputy commissioner of police (Noida), said.
He said a team from Sector 126 police station reached the spot and found that the man has suffered a gunshot wound on his left shoulder.
“Sharma was taken to Nithari Hospital in Sector 30. Later, he was referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. During the investigation, it was found that Sharma was on his way home to Delhi from his workplace in Noida when the incident took place,” the DCP said. Police said that the victim was on a scooter as he was going home.
“When he reached the service road near Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station, two bike-borne assailants came from behind and fired at Sharma. We have seen some CCTV footage in which it appears that the accused fled after firing at the victim,” the officer said.
Initial investigations have revealed that the Sharma was attacked over some personal enmity. Police are analysing the CCTV footage of the area and are trying to identify the accused. Some witnesses have told police the accused had fled towards Delhi after the incident. A case will be registered under IPC Section 307(attempt to murder) soon, police said.
