GURUGRAM: The city on Tuesday reported less than 300 Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day as it added 288 fresh cases to its tally. It had reported 291 cases on Monday.
At present, the city has 1,690 active cases. With a dip in cases, the daily positivity rate also dipped to 8.1% on Tuesday from 8.3% the day before. Hospitalisations continue to be very low, according to data from the health department. As many as 14 Covid-19 patients are admitted in hospital. On Monday, 3,522 tests were carried out in the city.
A total of 3,504 samples were collected.
In April, the city added 5,894 cases, while it had added 2,034 in March. So far this month, a total of 3,674 cases have been added to the tally.
Gurugram has been adding more than 100 cases from April 12-19 and then more than 200 cases from April 20-23. On April 24, it added more than 300 cases and since then it has been adding cases in the 300 to 450 bracket.
“We are witnessing a downward trend in
Covid cases at present. We are expecting the cases to further decline by May 20.
People still need to follow Covid protocol,” said Dr
Virender Yadav, chief medical officer in Gurugram.
Experts said even though the cases are declining, it is important that people take vaccines for prevention. “We have a low hospitalisation rate because maximum people have already taken both doses of vaccine. Thus, eligible people should take booster doses as well,” said Yadav.
Haryana reported 401 Covid cases on Tuesday. It carried out 12597 tests and its positivity was at 4.4%. Faridabad has the second highest Covid cases in Haryana with 83 cases. A total of 2406 active cases are present across the state out of which 2372 are in home isolation. Also, 532 patients also recovered from Covid on Tuesday.
